The Compost Heap - Tenantry Down Allotment Association's Wiki.
The Compost Heap is open to anyone - holder or not, member or not - to contribute and edit. Allowed topics are horticulture, allotment rules & bureaucracy, traditions, techniques, plants and vegetables in general, local history, geography & geology, personal experiences, association business, and anything that can be disguised as one of the above. Our policy is inclusive rather than ex-. But note that all the above is only provisional and may change at any time.
The Compost Heap uses MediaWiki, the excellent (and free!) software behind Wikipedia. If you know your way round Wikipedia, the same methods will work here (mostly).
If you want to contribute or edit, see Editing for brief directions. Actually, the best way is just to jump in - you can't do any permanent harm, since all changes are reversible (although I haven't figured out how yet). We want editors not just to create and write articles, but to tidy up, illustrate, correct and proof-read already existing articles.

How to find the article you want
We now have quite a few articles, so start with the search (left). If there's no page that matches your search, you'll be given an invitation to create one. We'd really appreciate it if you did, even if you leave it as a "stub" - that is, a simple summary article to be expanded later.
Alternatively, you can search through the categories. They're listed below, together with a few "special pages" like the list of all articles.
Finally, this is a Wiki, which means that there should be links between the articles. If you're reading an article, and you see a possible link, feel free to add it.

We'd love you to submit and edit articles on here - it's supposed to be a resource for all members of the association (and any other passing browser interested in allotments). Unfortunately, due to cyber-vandals, we no longer allow pages to be edited anonymously. But if you drop me a line, I can quickly set you up to edit and create articles.
